About Me

I am speech-language pathologist with over 30 years of experience helping people improve their communication skills. I am also a college instructor who teaches Public Speaking skills that helps people go from terrified to terrific. And nothing brings me greater joy!

I have worked with speakers of Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Bengali, and Urdu.

I have a deep understanding of speech sound production and perception, because I teach Phonetics and the IPA on the undergraduate level and to Reading Instructors. My special talent and gift to you is my ability to put the sounds you make into my mouth, so I can help explain what your mouth should be doing to make target sound of American English.

I enjoy doing this work immensely. Having been married to a Mexican Spanish speaker for 25 years, I saw the challenges he faced being misunderstood and misjudged. No one should feel embarrassed, belittled, or mistreated because the sound system of your home language differs from the sounds of American English. I would love to help you bridge that gap.

My Approach

Working with me is supportive, practical, and highly personalized. My goal is never to erase who you are or where you come from, but to help you speak with greater clarity, confidence, and ease in the situations that matter most to you. I use my background as a speech-language pathologist, phonetics instructor, and communication coach to break speech patterns down in a way that makes sense and feels manageable.

In our sessions, you can expect clear explanations, focused practice, honest but kind feedback, and strategies you can use immediately in real conversations. I bring warmth and humor into the learning process because speech work should feel encouraging, successful, and not at all intimidating. You will see noticeable growth in every session.
