Accent training is specialized, so the hourly session rate is high (average rate for private sessions ranges from $75.00 to $175.00+) . You can add a few clients a few nights a week or on the weekends.  Many students actually prefer evenings and weekends, so you can offer sessions outside of the regular 9-5 work schedule.

The work is virtually stress-free, with little paperwork, no IEPs, no dealing with insurance, minimal planning, and no report writing, so it won’t interfere with your current work responsibilities or your personal life.  There’s really no reason to leave your current job unless you choose to do so after you’ve built up a roster of students.

There is no certification, licensure, or degree required to provide accent and pronunciation training and you already have many of the skills to do it.  So much of this work is simply listening to our students, helping them identify their most common pronunciation errors, then practicing together to correct these errors.

Have you ever heard someone make a grammar mistake when speaking and then corrected them (either in your head or out loud?)  Accent and pronunciation training is pretty much the same thing!

English is a global language and it’s the most studied language in the world.  Approximately 1.5 billion people speak English as a second language, and while not every ESL speaker wants or needs to work on pronunciation, many do, and they do it for various reasons.

It’s a great time to be an online teacher.  Students are out there looking for us.  Thanks to COVID, the world has realized that online teaching and coaching is more flexible, more convenient, and just as effective as in-person training.

So, if you’ve ever thought about helping people reclaim their voice and speech as a full-time career or as a side hustle, NOW is a great time to do it.

I put together this Getting Started Guide to help you realize that you ARE qualified to do this.

A little about me.  I'm Jessica...

and I'm an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist who specializes in teaching accents, dialects, and pronunciation.

Over the past 22 years, I've worked with award-winning actors, models, voice-over artists, corporate executives, lawyers, teachers, diplomats and professional voice users from all over the world.

There are so many students out there looking for teachers like us to help them feel confident about their speech and pronunciation.  I love helping my students and I'd love to show you how to find your own students and offer accent and pronunciation training services.  When you're ready...I'm here to help.
