A Better Marketer is a Better Teacher

Jun 02, 2021

Does this sound familiar?

“I’m a great teacher, coach, therapist, instructor, (insert whatever you call yourself here) but I’m not a marketer. I don’t like to push my services on people. It feels awkward and uncomfortable.”

It does to me.   In fact, I said it quite frequently until about 5 years ago.

But it isn’t true. And I wish I had learned this lesson sooner.

The truth is, becoming a better marketer makes you a better teacher. And becoming a better teacher makes you a better marketer. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Why?  Well…

As a marketer, you need to understand your students’ biggest speech fears and communication challenges, then motivate them to take action to overcome these challenges.

As a teacher, you give them the training and resources that they need to improve their communication skills, gain confidence, and become a better speaker.

And the more you understand these fears and challenges (better marketer), you can develop even more effective training and resources to overcome these challenges (better teacher.)

Marketing, when done the right way, is simply showing potential students how we can help them, rather than trying to convince them to enroll in our programs.

There are pushy, salesy, marketers out there, but you don’t have to be like them to find students.

When you set up marketing systems that allow you to build a relationship and stay present in a potential student's mind, you’ll be the first person that they think of when they are ready to enroll.

Marketing this way feels comfortable, natural, and authentic. It's how I built my own caseload into a thriving business with a months-long waitlist for private sessions.

And the best part is, most of the system is automated, so it runs in the background of my business without me having to do much to keep it going.

As a speech coach or instructor, marketing is actually the most important part of what we do.  Without a marketing plan, we don’t have students. If we don’t have students, we can’t get experience.

And the experience of working with students is what will turn you into a true accent and pronunciation expert!

If you're ready to become a better marketer AND a better teacher, with new students enrolling in your programs on a regular basis, that’s something we do in The Accent Channel Method Teacher Training program.
